UFC on ESPN 9 is set to go down this weekend (Sat., May 30, 2020), which will take place inside Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the ESPN+ -streamed event is a Welterweight bout between Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns.

The fight will be “The Chosen One’s” first since coughing up his 170-pound title to Kamaru Usman 14 months ago at UFC 235. During that span, Burns has been putting in work like a mad man, winning four straight fights including big wins over Demian Maia and Gunnar Nelson.

Woodley was in line to face Leon Edwards a month in April, but after the COVID-19 pandemic altered those plans, the promotion pegged “Durinho” as “Rocky’s” replacement. It’s a huge opportunity for the Brazilian bomber, who has been slowly climbing the rankings after six years with the promotion. For “The Chosen One,” it’s his opportunity to close the gap in his quest for another title fight.

Ahead of the big event — which also features a Heavyweight bout between Blagoy Ivanov and Augusto Sakai — the promotion released the official event poser, as well as a sneak peak of the event’s cold open.
