This is UFC 255 in a few short tweets.
UFC 255 is in the books, and it saw the two flyweight champions retain their respective belts. Deiveson Figueiredo kept his title after an impressive guillotine choke on Alex Perez, while Valentina Shevchenko defended her belt with a unanimous decision over Jennifer Maia.
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:
BUCKLEY KOs WRIGHT
PROS: It was always impossible to top that viral finish, but Buckley still managed to continue the hype, showcase that power, and getting another big KO.
CONS: None!

CRAIG TKOs SHOGUN
PROS: Smart game plan and good win for Craig I guess…
CONS: I don’t want to take away from Craig, but that was just sad to see from Shogun. He also tapped to strikes, and even went for an oil check.

MEANS OUTLANDS PERRY
PROS: Means’ controlled and technical volume striking was much better than Perry’s all-power approach.
CONS: Perry lost, badly missed weight, and is involved in serious DV incidents, but he’ll still stay with the UFC. Also, https://t.co/Ymg5AZaA49

SHEVCHENKO BEATS MAIA
PROS: Shevchenko got another title defense, and beat up a very tough and game Maia. It’s yet another a good win from the champ, but…
CONS: …since there were slow moments and wasn’t as dominant, (spoiled) people are (understandably) left wanting more.

FIGUEIREDO GUILLOTINES PEREZ
CONS: Figgy did grab the fence at one point, but I’m not sure if that’s as important as some people say.
PROS: He showed good striking(again), but that scramble was just so goooood!https://t.co/eNuXAiCUst

#UFC255 OVERALL:
PROS: Figueiredo’s stock should rise. Flyweights are fun (stop burying them on prelims)
PRO&CON: Who can truly challenge Valentina?
CONS: White still backs Perry, who lost 3 of 4. Slow moments had me wishing I just watched Fight Circus https://t.co/OVzasBPwWs
