This is Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 2 in a few short tweets!
UFC 260 is in the books, and we have a new heavyweight champion. Francis Ngannou learned from his mistakes and avenged his 2018 loss by brutally knocking out Stipe Miocic in the second round. He came out far more patient, and the more composed Ngannou not only had better efficiency with his cardio, he also landed better quality strikes that eventually won him the belt.
In the co-main event, Tyron Woodley came out strong and far more aggressive than he normally does. He found success early, but Vicente Luque eventually landed a nice counter that badly hurt him, leading to a darce choke submission finish.
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:
MULLARKEY KOs WORTHY
PROS: Well that was fast. Worthy got caught with awkward footwork as he was stepping back, and Mullarkey finished it quickly. 46 secs!
CONS: Unless you’re Worthy, none!

MAVERICK DECISIONS ROBERTSON
PROS: Maverick has a lot going for her, and the young prospect has a bright future could if given time to properly develop.
CONS: Not sure about the game plan, but it worked, and she got valuable experience. https://t.co/Kf0TNwMe2W

O’MALLEY TKOs ALMEIDA
PROS: O’Malley got back on the win column, won what was pretty much a tune up
CONS: He eventually got a TKO, but O’Malley prioritized showboating and botched what should’ve been a first round finish. Almeida has some thinking to do https://t.co/p1rYCjItEL

LUQUE CHOKES OUT WOODLEY
PROS: It was exciting with both throwing bombs and showing heart. Woodley listened to his coaches and was finally opening up…
CONS: But he got caught and it was sad to watch the former champ go out like that. https://t.co/iIPQolnpOd

NGANNOU KOs MIOCIC
CONS: Someone had to lose here.
PROS: NEW CHAMP. Wow. Ngannou was far more patient, and even showcased some wrestling skills. If he continues to throw straighter, sharper shots instead of just out of control bombs, HW is in trouble. https://t.co/J5NlA00OAt

#UFC260 OVERALL
PROS: Ngannou has potential to be the 1st mainstream heavyweight star since Lesnar. Is Jones really next? This is an exciting time for the division
CONS: Sad to see Woodley & Almeida like that. Was this the last PPV without arena fans? I enjoyed that atmosphere.
