This is UFC 267: Blachowicz vs Teixeira in a few short tweets.
UFC 267 is in the books, and it was filled with so many great moments and fantastic performances. The spectacular — and free — numbered event was capped off by Glover Teixeira scoring a huge upset to take Jan Blachowicz’s belt at 42-years-old, but there were also a lot of fantastic performances.
Co-headlining the event was a high level technical striking affair between Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen for the interim bantamweight title. It saw the latter showcase his tricky, movement and volume based style early on, putting up an insane pace up until Yan made better reads and shifted the tide as the fight progressed.
The two fighters being dubbed as the “next Khabib” surpassed the already huge hype behind them, with Islam Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev both executing perfectly with dominant and early submissions.
Here’s a quick twitter thread with a brief recap and analysis of the event, that’s fitting for people’s social media era attention spans:
ANKALAEV DECISIONS OEZDEMIR
PROS: Ankalaev looked sharp, left Oezdemir second guessing himself.
CONS: They criticized Oezdemir for lack of urgency, but good counter-striking can do that. He didn’t have any answers, couldn’t adjust after being countered just about every attempt.

CHIMAEV CHOKES OUT LI
PROS: Chimaev came back from longhaul COVID to dominate the #11 WW. He was carrying Li while talking to Dana too! Outlanding 4 opponents 254-1? What.
CONS: We again didn’t see much from Chimaev, but that’s no fault of his own. https://t.co/OiDc2hnO0q

VOLKOV DECISIONS TYBURA
PROS: Volkov got a quality win that moves him closer to a title shot.
CONS: It was a heavyweight fight that went to a decision, and things indeed looked very heavyweight. https://t.co/UnFqa4HXod

MAKHACHEV KIMURAS HOOKER
CONS: Kinda weird seeing DC commentate & interview a teammate
PROS: Hooker deserves props for short notice, but Makhachev dominated. Quick, clean and impressive way to boost his hype. Does he wait for the belt? Get back in quick? https://t.co/j8jUqnAsP2

YAN DECISIONS SANDHAGEN
CONS: None!
PROS: Spectacular top level chess match. I can’t emphasize enough how so many great things might have gone unnoticed. Sandhagen brought his bag of tricks and did so well, but Yan made his reads & turned the tide here: https://t.co/X3aLOu0gHh

TEIXEIRA UPSETS BLACHOWICZ!!!
CONS: NONE! WHAT!
PROS: OH MY GOD. WOW. EVERYONE COUNTED HIM OUT, BUT ON THE WEEK HE TURNED 42 HE TOOK HOME GOLD. AMAZING, INSPIRING MOMENT.https://t.co/RMhWoNExtB

#UFC267 OVERALL
CONS: That horrible ref, corners still not protecting fighters.
PROS: Great, violent card. Free too! Old man Glover. Yan-Sandhagen chessmatch. Possibly unfair comparison, but that big “next Khabib” hype continues for Makhachev and Chimaevhttps://t.co/Ot7sG1cUXk
