Rampage Jackson promises to “lose this weight.”
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson weighed in at a career high of 265 lbs for his bout against Fedor Emelianenko. The bout didn’t end well for him, with Fedor looking much faster and picking him apart en route to a walk-off KO (video here).
Following the loss, Rampage vowed to lose the weight and says he’s done fighting at heavyweight.
“It’s all good – I’m not in a bad mood,” Jackson said (HT: MMA Junkie). “I just know what I got to do. I got to get my damn weight down. I felt like a hippopotamus out there. But that’s my fault. No excuses. It’s all right. I’ll be back. But I ain’t coming back at heavyweight. I’ve got to lose this weight.”
Rampage, who has been a career light heavyweight, has been fighting above that 205 lb division since 2015. He has lost three of his last four bouts at heavyweight, and this defeat is only his first stoppage loss since a title bout with Jon Jones back in 2011.
Fedor, on the other hand, has now won three of his last four bouts. His only loss in that stretch was a heavyweight title bout against two-division Bellator champ Ryan Bader.
