RandyCoutureBefore UFC Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture (19-1) could get licensed in Ontario, Canada for his upcoming UFC 129 bout with Lyoto Machida, Couture first had to get a license in his home state of Nevada.

It’s something that isn’t normally done but with Ontario new to mixed martial arts, they are dotting their “i’s” and crossing their “t’s” for their inaugural UFC event in April by requiring all competitors to have a license issued by their home state before being issued one by the Province.

Couture spoke to the LasVegasSun.com about the licensing.

“I’ve been very active this last year. It’s not like I have had any time off. I’m ready to compete and healthy as a horse.”

Because of Couture’s age, 47, he was also required to complete a physical as the commission requires all fighters over the age of 35 to have one completed in order to receive their license.

Couture will meet Machida on April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on the pay-per-view card of UFC 129.
