Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua recently suffered an undisclosed injury and was forced to withdraw from his Rashad Evans fight, booked for the UFC on FOX 19 event on April 16, 2016 inside Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Taking his place will be 205-pound slugger Glover Teixeira, according to UFC.com.

Evans (19-4-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader back in October, his first appearance after nearly two years on the injured reserves. Teixeira (24-4), meanwhile, is the winner of two straight, bagging and tagging Ovince Saint Preux and Patrick Cummins during his 2015 fight campaign.

No timetable has been set for Rua’s return.

UFC on FOX 19 will be headlined by the lightweight contender fight pitting Khabib Nurmagomedov against Tony Ferguson. Elsewhere on the card, Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson try to settle their light heavyweight score, while Michael Chiesa and Beneil Dariush hook ’em up for a spot in the 155-pound title chase.
