The UFC is reportedly planning a headliner fight between two of its most decorated featherweight strikers.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a potential barnburner coming our way. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the UFC is working on a headliner fight between Edson Barboza (22-9) and the streaking Giga Chikadze (13-2) for the upcoming August 28th event.

Once finalized, this will be Barboza’s third headliner and his first as a featherweight. The 35-year-old Brazilian is on a 2-1 run since he dropped to 145 pounds last May. He last saw action at UFC 262 two months ago in a Fight of the Night performance against Shane Burgos.

Chikadze has so far been undefeated since officially signing with the UFC in 2019. Currently on a 6-0 run, the 35-year-old Georgian fighter last fought in May against veteran Cub Swanson. He won the fight via first-round TKO from a nasty liver kick that earned him his second straight Performance of the Night bonus.

Also part of the said event is the return of “The Motown Phenom” Kevin Lee, who faces Sean Brady in a welterweight fight.
