Report: Koscheck/Daley 2, Kimbo/Thompson 2 to headline Bellator London

A pair of anticipated rematches are expected to make up the top two bouts when Bellator takes their cage to the United Kingdom.

Like the UFC, Bellator appears to be big on bringing fans rematches this summer. The promotion will be making their first trip to the United Kingdom in a few months, and it is being reported that they’re looking to set up a couple of big rematches that did business for other promotions originally. Those rematches would be Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley, and Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson.

WHOA TV originally reported the news. Jason Floyd of The MMA Report followed up with a couple of tweets about the news. The first being about Bellator’s stance on the report:

Bellator is not commenting on this report, which has Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson as co-main event of London card https://t.co/zKyjV3WflV

And the second being about the current status of Kimbo Slice, who was flagged by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a positive test for the anabolic steroid nandrolone after his fight with Dada 5000:

As of this time, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has not responded to me on the length of Kimbo’s suspension

You’d think that Kimbo would automatically be ruled out of a summer fight after popping in February, but Texas isn’t exactly Nevada or California when it comes to punishment for such things. He could get as little as a 90-day suspension.

Daley and Koscheck first met at UFC 113 in 2010, where Koscheck won a convincing decision with his wrestling. After the fight was over, Daley threw a late punch at Koscheck that got him banned from the UFC for life. Now that they’re both in Bellator, the promotion wants to put that together.

As for Kimbo and Thompson, they infamously fought on CBS under the EliteXC banner in one of the most-watched MMA bouts of all time. Kimbo blew up Thompson’s ear and eventually finished him by TKO.

Bellator has not announced a date for the London card yet, but it will take place in the O2 Arena.
