Vincente Luque and Michael Chiesa are expected to meet at UFC 265 this August.

A fight between two top welterweight contenders is in the works for UFC 265, as Michael Chiesa is set to meet Vincente Luque.

Cageside Press first reported the matchup, though the UFC is yet to confirm the fight. Luque currently sits at #5 in the welterweight rankings, whilst Chiesa is just behind him at #6.

Luque (20-7-1) is undefeated in his last three UFC appearances. All of those wins have been stoppage victories, submitting Tyron Woodley at UFC 260 and knocking out both Randy Brown and Niko Price in 2020. ‘The Silent Assassin’ has only lost to Stephen Thompson and Leon Edwards since 2015.

Since being submitted by Kevin Lee and Anthony Pettis, Chiesa (18-4) has found success moving up to 170-pounds. ‘Maverick’ is undefeated in his last four fights, submitting Carlos Condit in his UFC welterweight debut and has since won decisions against Diego Sanchez, Rafael Dos Anjos and Neil Magny.

UFC 265 is expected to feature a women’s bantamweight title bout between two-weight champion Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena.
