The UFC doesn’t have a set plan for the main event for their San Antonio show yet, but one option is a women’s flyweight title fight.

The UFC has a show scheduled for just over five weeks away in San Antonio, Texas, but the event still doesn’t have a headlining bout as of yet. It appears the the promotion is throwing a lot of ideas around, and according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on Twitter, one of those ideas is a women’s flyweight title fight between champ Valentina Shevchenko and Liz Carmouche:

Shevchenko (17-3, 6-2 UFC) is undefeated since returning to 125 pounds, and is coming off a vicious head kick knockout-of-the-year candidate against Jessica Eye last weekend at UFC 238. That would seem to be a quick turnaround, but Shevchenko took no damage in the Eye fight so it certainly seems possible.

Carmouche (13-6, 5-4 UFC) is 2-1 since dropping to the flyweight division. The former bantamweight title challenger has won her last two bouts via decision over Jennifer Maia and Lucie Pudilova. She is currently ranked at number three at women’s flyweight in the official UFC rankings. As mentioned in the tweet, Carmouche handed Shevchenko her first career loss, and only career TKO stoppage, back in 2010. She is currently tentatively scheduled to face Roxy Modafferi on this card already.

UFC San Antonio goes down on July 20th at the AT&T Center. It is scheduled to air on the big ESPN network.
