UFC welterweight Rick “The Horror” Story (12-3) has won five straight under the Ultimate Fighting Championship banner and runs a 5-1 record with the promotion. Story realizes just how tough the 170 lbs division is in the UFC and knows that to get noticed he’ll need a win against a big name if he ever wants a crack at the title.
Story already has his eyes set on a big name opponent, and during a recent interview on the Sherdog Radio Network he revealed who that fighter was.
“I want to fight Thiago [Alves]. I know that somebody like Thiago Alves, beating him, it would make people realize, ‘This guy is for real. I just want everybody to know that I am for real and I’m not going to stop until I get that number one spot…I just think that it would be great. It would be a great fight and it’d be fun to stand and trade with him.”
Story fought earlier this month at the TUF 12 Finale earning a unanimous decision win over Johny Hendricks on the Spike TV televised main card. That marked his fifth UFC win and fourth in 2010. Other wins from the past year include a TKO win over Dustin Hazelett at UFC 117, a split decision over Nick Osipczak at UFC 112, and a majority decision victory over Jesse Lennox at UFC Fight Night 20: Maynard vs. Diaz.
