Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has wasted no time in re-booking a Featherweight matchup between Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens, as Brett Okamoto reports that the two men will co-headline UFC on ESPN 6 on October 18 in Boston, Mass.

Of course, Yair and Stephens headlined last Saturday’s (Sept. 21, 2019) UFC Fight Night 159 event in Mexico City, Mexico, but the fight ended in just 15 seconds after Yair inadvertently poked Jeremy in the eye. After a five minute break, officials decided to rule the fight a No Contest (NC) since Stephens was unable to open his eye.

Afterward, the war-of-words continued between the two men, as “El Pantera” didn’t rule out Stephens over-exaggerating his injuries. The following day, the two men were involved in a small tussle in the hotel lobby (see it again here).

Now, the hard-hitting 145-pounders will have the chance to settle their differences once and for all inside the Octagon. UFC on ESPN 6 recently lost it’s co-headlining act as a proposed fight between Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Calvin Kattar was moved to UFC Fight Night 163 next month.

With the extra heat and added controversy between Stephens and Yair, the promotion has itself a great fight that pretty much sells itself now. UFC on ESPN 6 will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight showdown between former UFC Middleweight king, Chris Weidman, challenging Dominick Reyes.
