The fireworks have been flying leading up to UFC 205 on Saturday. During weigh-ins Friday, Ronda Rousey made an appearance and came face-to-face with Amanda Nunes, her UFC 207 opponent Dec. 30.
TMZ Sports provided the video of Rousey being introduced to the crowd at Madison Square Garden:
Rousey’s staredown with Nunes seemed routine. However, per TMZ Sports, she walked off the stage before doing the customary interview with Joe Rogan, even though UFC President Dana White tried to keep her around.
Nunes will be defending the women’s bantamweight title against Rousey, and she told Fox Sports’ The Buzzer her goal is to send the former champion into retirement when they meet in Las Vegas:
This will be Rousey’s first fight since November 2015, when Holly Holm won the bantamweight title by knocking her out at UFC 193, giving the former Olympic bronze medalist her first career loss as a mixed martial artist.
Holm lost the title to Miesha Tate at UFC 196, and Nunes defeated Tate in July with a first-round submission at UFC 200 to capture the title.
During an appearance on Ellen last week (via MMA Junkie), Rousey said her bout with Nunes is going to be one of her final fights.
“I’m wrapping it up,” Rousey said. “This is definitely one of my last fights. Everyone better watch because the show isn’t going to be around forever.”
