Rony Jason tests positive for diuretics, has UFC Fight Night 67 win overturned

TUF Brazil winner Rony Jason has tested positive in his post-UFC Fight Night 67 drug test.

The Brazilian featherweight, who tapped Damon Jackson in the first round in Goiania, Brazil, on May 30, has tested positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, and his victory was overturned to a no contest, Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) announced Thursday.

Jason received a nine-month suspension, and will likely lose his $50,000 ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.

Jason told MMAFighting.com he didn’t have any issue cutting weight for UFC Fight Night 67, and denies using anything illegal before or after the fight.

“I’m talking to my nutritionist and UFC doctors,” Jason said. “The only thing I used on the day of the weigh-in was vitamin C, so we’re checking if any of the medication I used for my ankle injury has something to do with it.”

According to CABMMA, the other 23 fighters who competed at the event tested clean for banned substances.

UFC Fight Night 67 took place May 30 at the Goiania Arena in Brazil. In the main event, Carlos Condit defeated Thiago Alves via TKO.
