Resurgent light heavyweight striker Khalil Rountree will make his return to the Octagon at UFC on ESPN+ 18 on Sept. 28 from inside Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, as he takes on Moldovan finisher Ion Cutelaba, per an announcement by UFC officials earlier today.

Rountree, 29, is coming off the best performance of his MMA career when he outpointed Eryk Anders via unanimous decision back in April. During that fight, Rountree looked absolutely sensational on his feet. He picked Anders apart with vicious Muay Thai and showcased a true evolution in his game. It was just what the former Ultimate Fighter standout needed after getting finished by light heavyweight sensation Johnny Walker last November.
Cutelaba, 25, is coming off a tough submission loss to former UFC title challenger Glover Teixeira back in April. “Hulk” was winning that fight and had Teixeira seriously hurt, but eventually gave into a second-round submission finish. The young light heavyweight has produced an even 3-3 record since making his Octagon debut back in 2016, but has always showcased the athletic capability and natural finishing ability to one day rise the 205-pound ranks in fashion.
While nothing has been made official, UFC on ESPN+ 18 is expected to be headlined by a middleweight affair between rising title contenders Jack Hermansson and Jared Cannonier.
