Many mixed martial arts fans want to know whats next for the former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar (5-2) after his loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 last month.
There had been rumors that Lesnar was asking to face Roy “Big Country” Nelson in his next fight, but UFC president Dana White has come out denying any truth to those rumors, saying Frank Mir should be next.
“He never asked for Roy Nelson, that’s not true. The last thing I did hear was that he wants to fight Frank Mir again. That fight kind of makes sense so… We will probably see Lesnar fight Mir next, I think that the rubber match makes sense.”
Mir and Lesnar have already faced each other twice with each man earning a victory. Both met for the first time at UFC 81 back in February of 2008 in Lesnar’s debut bout. Mir secured a quick kneebar in the first round forcing the submission win. Both men would meet again in July of 2009 to unify the UFC heavyweight title. Lesnar would dominate the fight with his ground-and-pound to win a TKO victory at UFC 100.
