Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson declares April 22 “Urijah Faber Day”

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson today welcomed World Extreme Cagefighting to the ARCO Arena for the fourth time in the building’s history and declared April 22 “Urijah Faber Day” in honor of the hometown hero’s headlining fight with current featherweight champion Jose Aldo at Saturday’s “Aldo vs. Faber” event.

Johnson presented Faber the honor at the start of a press
conference promoting WEC 48, the Zuffa, LLC-owned promotion’s first
foray into pay-per-view.

“He’s one of the best featherweight fighters in the world, certainly in
the history of the sport,” Johnson said. “We are proud to claim him as a
local resident.”
