The new Straight Blast Gym (SBG) training facility in Dublin, Ireland, is supposed to be the next generation of mixed martial arts (MMA) gyms. After all, the 16,500 square-foot space has already been dubbed “The Monster” by current SBG members.

In order to properly unveil the state-of-the-art gym, SBG is hosting a grand opening this Sunday (Sept. 22, 2019) between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. local time, per The Mac Life. The “ribbon-cutting” event will be open to the public as SBG coaches offer free lessons in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), striking, and the Víkingaþrek fitness program (age dependent).

SBG head coach, John Kavanagh, offered the following message to fans and prospective members via Instagram:

While some fans might hope to see former UFC champion Conor McGregor in attendance to bring in the new “Monster” gym, “Notorious” is not expected to take time out of his busy schedule and drop in for the festivities.

Not to worry, though, as UFC great and BJJ trailblazer Royce Gracie is scheduled to make an appearance. The Brazilian legend will be hosting a women’s self-defense class from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., while also participating in a charity drive to raise money.

“It’s been incredible to see SBG grow from its humble beginnings to what it is now,” Kavanagh said of the new SBG facility. “I’m so proud of the team and all we’ve created so far and am looking forward to seeing all we’ll achieve in our new home in Inchicore.”

In case you are in the Dublin area and would like to attend the SBG grand opening the new gym is located at Unit 13 of the Goldenbridge Industrial Estate on Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore.
