Alex Pereira has officially transformed into “Poatan” ahead of his light heavyweight title fight opposite Khalil Rountree at the upcoming UFC 307 pay-per-view (PPV) card on Oct. 5 from inside Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
There aren’t too many fighters in combat sports right now that put forth the violence, activity, and intrigue that Pereira does. Over the course of past 11 months, the former two-division GLORY champion claimed the UFC light heavyweight title over Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden (see HERE), defended it against Jamahal Hill in the main event of UFC 300 (watch HERE), and defended it in an event-saving rematch against Prochazka at UFC 303 this past July during the promotion’s International Fight Week (highlights HERE).
In other words, UFC has trusted Pereira to headline some of the biggest cards of all time. The fact that he keeps winning in dramatic fashion has catapulted his popularity among fight fans everywhere.
Believe it or not, Pereira will be back in action to defend his title for a third time in 2024 when he meets Rountree atop UFC 307’s main card next weekend in Salt Lake City. Fight fans still don’t fully understand the booking considering Rountree was not at the top of the list of deserving title contenders, but any chance we get to see Pereira compete we have to take it.
Earlier this week, Pereira transformed himself into “Poatan” in order to prepare for his clash with Rountree. Pereira does this by shaving off all of the hair on his head. After it’s all said and done, the Brazilian champion looks like a straight killer. Rountree fans should be more than nervous for this one.
