Scott Coker plans to negotiate with former UFC champion Cris Cyborg.
Could Cris Cyborg be fighting for Scott Coker once again? After Dana White announced that they’re “out of the Cyborg business,” the Bellator CEO expressed interest in working with her again, much like they did during her Strikeforce days.
“That’s great news. I’ll be calling (Cyborg’s manager) Audie (Attar),” Coker told MMA Junkie Friday night. He also noted that he will first have to make sure that the UFC is indeed waiving that exclusive negotiation period and that Cyborg is a free agent.
Much like what he did in that announcement, White has constantly trashed Cyborg’s character and her recent (dominant) performance at UFC 240. As the long time featherweight queen headed towards free agency, White only ramped up the criticism, calling her “scared” of Amanda Nunes despite Cyborg calling for the bout numerous times.
“I don’t even know what to say about that,” Coker reacted. “Cyborg isn’t afraid of anybody.”
Coker has promoted some of Cyborg’s bouts in the past, with the featherweight going undefeated in her five bouts with Strikeforce. Apart from Bellator, other promotions like the PFL are also expected to express interest in signing the former UFC champ.
