UFC bantamweights Scott ‘Young Guns’ Jorgensen (13-5) and former WEC champ Eddie Wineland (18-8-1) will have their bout added to the main card of this June’s upcoming UFC on FX 3 event.
Voting from fans, as part of the UFC’s Hometown Throwdown contest, helped to place the Jorgensen vs. Wineland bout on the FX televised main card.
News of the voting tally was reported by Heavy.com on Tuesday.
Fans had the choice of adding Joregensen vs. Wineland match, or choosing between matches featuring Mike Pierce vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha or Seth Baczynski vs. Lance Benoist. With the votes in, the latter two matches will now appear on the preliminary card of the event.
Fans also helped to pick the location for the event recently, naming the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida as the venue for the show. It will be the first UFC event hosted in South Florida since UFN 10 back in 2007.
UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall is scheduled for June 8 in Sunrise and will see the main card broadcast on the FX cable network.
Jorgensen is 2-1 in his last three bouts, but suffered a decision loss to Renan Barao this past February at UFC 143. His previous two wins were against Jeff Curran, at UFC 137, and against Ken Stone, at the TUF 13 Finale.
Wineland has dropped two straight and will look for his first win in the Octagon when he meets ‘Young Guns’. The former, and first ever, WEC bantamweight champ suffered decision losses to Joseph Benavidez at UFC on Versus 5 and to Urijah Faber at UFC 128.
