An intriguing Middleweight bout has been added to the upcoming UFC 248 pay-per-view (PPV) event — set to go down on March 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada — as Derek Brunson has been booked to tango against Edmen Shahbazyan.

Undefeated at 11-0, 4-0 UFC, Edmen has quickly garnered some attention after exploding onto the UFC scene in 2018. After winning his fight on Dana White’s ‘Contender Series,’ Edmen then went on to win four straight fights inside the eight-sided cage in the span of a year. In his last outing, he knocked out Brad Tavares in the very first round at UFC 244 this past November.

Brunson, meanwhile, is eying his third straight win after defeating Elias Theodorou and Ian Heinisch in consecutive bouts. It’s a nice turnaround for Derek, who had previously lost two straight at the hands of Ronaldo Souza and current division king, Israel Adesanya. Stopping Edmen’s momentum will go a long way in helping Derek climb the 185-pound.

Predictions?

UFC 248 is set to be headlined by a 185-pound title fight as the aforementioned Israel Adesanya will defend his belt against former title contender, Yoel Romero. In the co-main event, women’s Strawweight champion, Weili Zhang, will face Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
