Shane Roller
The Ultimate Fighting Championship added a lightweight bout to this September’s upcoming UFC 151 event, pitting NCAA Division I Wrestlers Shane Roller (11-6) and Jacob ‘Christmas’ Volkmann (14-3) against one another.
UFC 151 is expected to take place on September 1, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining will be a light heavyweight title bout between UFC champ Jon Jones and former Strikeforce titleholder Dan Henderson.
Roller ended a three fight losing skid by winning a unanimous decision over John Alessio earlier this month at UFC 148 in Vegas. Roller had stepped in on short notice versus Michael Johnson at UFC on FOX 2 last January, losing by decision. Before that he was submitted by TJ Grant at UFC on Versus 6 and was knocked out by Melvin Guillard at UFC 132.
Volkmann seen a streak of his own end, as his five bout winning streak was stopped by Brit Paul Sass at UFC 146 via first round submission. Volkmann’s previous five victories all came by decision earning wins against Efrain Escudero, Danny Castillo, Antonio McKee, Paul Kelly, and Ronys Torres.
