Shinya Aoki vs. Koji Ando title fight set for ONE Championship in May

Shinya Aoki will put his ONE Championship title on the line in May.

The submission artist, unbeaten in four bouts under the promotion’s banner, makes his second lightweight title defense when he meets Koji Ando at ONE Championship 28. The fight card is scheduled for May 22 in Kallang, Singapore.

Aoki (37-6, 1 no-contest) last defended his 155-pound title in August, choking out Kamal Shalorus in the first round. Four months later, he needed 81 seconds to tap Yuki Yamamoto at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2014.

Ando (11-3-2) earned a shot at the ONE Championship belt with back-to-back stoppage victories over Brazilians at ONE Championship, finishing Rafael Nunes and Zorobabel Moreira. Before signing with the promotion, “The Commander” went 3-0 to win the Legend FC title in Malaysia.
