The CM Punk experiment is upon us and boy is it entertaining. In the midst of crossing over from professional wrestling and taking a crack at the unforgiving sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), Punk has thrown the combat sports world for a loop. Whether he wins or loses to 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall tomorrow night (Sat., Sept. 10) at UFC 203 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, has yet to be determined, but you better believe MMA fans, along with Punk’s gigantic WWE following, will tune in to find out.
But, before Punk steps inside of the acclaimed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Octagon this weekend, he took to the scales for the first time earlier today (Fri., Sept. 9, 2016) for UFC 203’s official weigh ins (full results here). Friday was the first time the MMA world has had a close look at Punk as a 170-pound martial artist (if we can call him that). Remember, this is a guy who used to weigh well over 200 pounds when he competed in WWE and was thrust against some of the biggest athletes in the world inside of the wrestling ring.
To take a deeper look into the 37-year-old’s massive weight cut and complete body transformation, we’ve put together a good old fashioned side-by-side pic of Punk “then” and “now” to draw comparisons (shown above). We will find out at UFC 203 whether Punk can utilize his MMA-ready body to snap something off of Gall.
