Conor McGregor will be making his return to lightweight for the first time in over two years this weekend at UFC 257 against Dustin Poirier and “Notorious” looks to be in his best shape ever.
McGregor, who last competed at 155 pounds in a submission loss to rival Khabib Nurmagomedov back at UFC 229, has been ranting and raving about his successful weight cut and training camp heading into UFC 257. After Friday’s weigh ins (replay HERE), it’s safe to say that the former UFC double champ wasn’t lying about his preparation.
The above side-by-side image shows McGregor’s physique for his lightweight bout with Khabib (pictured left) and the Irishman’s new-and-improved makeup for his rematch with Poirier (pictured right). It appears that McGregor has considerably improved his physical appearance ahead of UFC 257 as he tries to dig his feet into the lightweight division and make another push for a UFC title.
UFC 257 will take place tomorrow night (Sat., Jan. 23, 2021) live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Etihad Arena on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., with McGregor vs. Poirier serving as the main event. A lightweight clash between Dan Hooker and Michael Chandler is slotted as the co-headliner.
What do you think, fight fans? Does McGregor look better prepared for his return to lightweight?
