Mike Tyson will make his first trip to the boxing ring in over 15 years tomorrow night (Sat., Nov. 28, 2020) live on FITE PPV from inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., as the former heavyweight champion takes on fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in a highly-anticipated exhibition match.
Tyson, who turned 54 this past June, hasn’t competed inside of the ring since a TKO loss to Kevin McBride all the way back in 2005. It remains his final professional bout (as of now) and a brutal reminder that even an all-time killer like “Iron Mike” can’t stand the test of time.
While Tyson will fight Jones Jr. in an exhibition match this weekend that won’t actually produce a winner fight fans will still get to see the former heavyweight king back in action. Tyson has been dropping training videos and workout montages for the better half of 2020 and the excitement is simply through the roof.
Prior to Tyson’s return, the heavyweight legend stepped on the scale Friday for official weigh ins. Tyson successfully made weight and gave fans an inside look at his physical condition heading into a return 15 years in the making.
Check above for a side-by-side comparison of Tyson from his 2005 loss against McBride to what “Iron Mike” looks like now heading into his clash with Jones Jr.
Only time will tell if Tyson can put his muscular makeup to use and land some power shots on “Superman.” Jones Jr. should have a technical and speed advantage over Tyson so “Iron Mike” better be ready to dig deep over the course of eight rounds.
