It looks like “The Spider” is not done with his fight career.

It appears as though retirement is no longer a consideration for Anderson Silva as the former UFC middleweight champion alluded to fighting again at some point.

In what is his first official statement since his departure from the UFC, Silva took to Instagram to write about the next steps he plans on taking in regards to the future of his career. Despite a number of voices saying they would like to see him retire at this point, Silva has made it clear that is not a part of his plans.

“I love and have always loved what I do, winning and losing are a part of it, it has absolutely nothing to do with age, I made technical mistakes and lost, but I didn’t lose what’s most important, the will and the desire to continue doing what I love, I still have the warrior spirit and that burning flame in my heart that motivates me, I have total belief that I can continue to compete in the elite of MMA,” wrote Silva.

You can read his full statement below.

Silva recently fought in the main event of UFC Vegas 12 opposite of No. 9 ranked middleweight contender, Uriah Hall. A strong three rounds from Silva was not enough to overcome Hall, who eventually clipped and dropped Silva before finishing the fight with strikes on the ground. Silva dropped his third straight fight and considering how the fight went, many believed he should probably stop competing.

Silva sounded receptive to the idea immediately after the Hall fight, stating that this would likely be the final time he would set foot inside of the Octagon, but he has apparently reconsidered. It is true that his recent appearance was the last one in the UFC because Silva has been released from his contract with the promotion despite still having one fight left on his deal. Still, UFC President Dana White does not seem keen on giving Silva another fight, so his time with them has come to a definite end.
