Tatiana Suarez’ stock, meanwhile, has skyrocketed!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to pay-per-view (PPV) this past weekend (Sat., Sept. 8, 2018) with UFC 228, which took place inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Headlining in “The Lonestar State” was a Welterweight showdown between division champion, Tyron Woodley, against the previously undefeated 170-pound up-and-comer, Darren Till. “The Chosen One” dominated from the start, routing “The Gorilla” en route to an impressive second round d’arce choke submission (watch it). No harm, no foul, though, as Till’s stock didn’t drop whatsoever, according to the latest rankings update at UFC.com. Former women’s Flyweight champion, Nicco Montano, was not as fortunate, dropping two spots in the rankings. And she didn’t even end up fighting. Indeed, Montano had health-related complications cutting weight and was sent to the hospital as a precaution. She was subsequently removed from her scheduled bout with No. 1-ranked contender, Valentina Shevchenko, and then stripped of her belt, which she learned about on social media.

Ah, only these types of things can happen in the good ‘ole UFC. Anyway, here’s how the rankings work (courtesy of UFC.com):

“Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.”

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).
