Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight title contender, Liz Carmouche, who recently made the drop down to 125 pounds, was given her walking papers while visiting a children’s hospital on the promotion’s behalf.
To call it a tasteless move would be an understatement, but it’s unknown if the powers that be actually knew where Carmouche was or what she was doing at the time. UFC employs over 500 fighters and just like every other corporate entity, signals get missed, crossed, delivered prematurely, whatever.
Still sucks.
So too, does the timing of former heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, who just so happens to be a paid commentator along with ex-middleweight champion, Michael Bisping. Both combatants decided to use social media to remind fans how wonderful UFC has been when times were tough.
I’m sure the timing was purely coincidental.
“Getting ready for Xmas holidays reminds me of 2012 and 15 days before Xmas the UFC sends me a 10k holiday bonus check,” Cormier wrote on Twitter. “No reason for it but I remember thinking ‘wow’ this was my fight purse before. We really do work for a beautiful company. Thank you guys.”
I’m sure “DC” missed all those headlines about Carmouche getting cut two weeks before Christmas.
“I remember Dana (White) did the same thing to me,” Bisping parroted. “Sent me a check in 2006 when I hadn’t fought for a while due to visa issues and he thought I’d be struggling financially: he was correct and it was very, very much appreciated.”

Carmouche is expected to sign with Bellator at some point before year’s end, so I guess all’s well that ends well?
