Spencer FisherA lightweight matchup appears to be almost a lock between UFC fighters Spencer “The King” Fisher (24-6) and Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson (11-4) for the upcoming UFC 127 event in Australia.

The fight was first reported by MMAjunkie.com who learned about the fight from sources close to the event, noting that at the time only verbal agreements had been made by both fighters.

Fisher, a long time UFC veteran with a 9-5 record with the promotion, is 1-2 in his last three and 4-2 in his last six fights. “The King” bounced back from back-to-back losses by defeating British fighter Kurt Warburton last October at UFC 120 via unanimous decision. Before that he was defeated by Dennis Siver at the TUF 11 Finale by decision, and to Joe Stevenson via submission at UFC 104.

Pearson, another British fighter born in Sunderland, Englad, suffered his first defeat as a UFC fighter since winning the TUF 9 Finale back in June of 2009. He faced Cole Miller in last Septembers UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares event and was submitted in the second round. He had rattled off three wins before the loss earning a unanimous decision over Dennis Siver at UFN 21, a TKO (doctor stoppage) over Aaron Riley at UFC 105, and defeated fellow teammate Andre Winner by unanimous decision at the TUF 9 Finale.

UFC 127, not yet official, is expected to take place on February 27th in Sydney, Australia and will mark the UFC’s return to the Acer Arena since their first sell-out trip in 2010.
