Spike TV will feature two preliminary bouts of the ucpoming November UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida event on their live “UFC Prelims” special.
Featured in the broadcast will be UFC middleweights Mark Muñoz (8-2) vs. Aaron Simpson (7-1) and a lightweight match between Matt Brown (13-9) vs. Rory MacDonald (10-1).
Muñoz looks to bounce back from a split decision loss to Yushin Okami at the UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko in August. “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” had won three straight earning victories over Kendall Grove, Ryan Jensen, and Nick Catone.
Simpson finds himself also coming off a loss, the fist of his career, to Chris Leben via TKO at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz Finale in June. Before the loss, “A-Train” earned three wins in the UFC defeating Tom Lawlor, Ed Herman, and Tim McKenzie.
Brown is likely fighting for his future with the UFC promotion as he’s dropped two straight. He recently lost to Chris Lytle at UFC 116 via submission and previously to Ricardo Almeida at UFC 111 by rear-naked-choke. So far “The Immortal” is 4-3 in the UFC.
MaDonald dropped his last fight also, losing via TKO to Carlos Condit in his native Province of British Columbia at the UFC 115 event in Vancouver, Canada. “The Waterboy” had been undefeated up to that point, winning his UFC debut against Mike Guymon with an armbar at UFC Fight Night 20: Maynard vs. Diaz.
The Spike special takes place one hour before the live pay-per-view broadcast of UFC 123’s main card. UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida will take place on Nov. 20th at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.
