Looks like someone wasn’t waiting for weigh ins to get that tray of Dunkin Donuts.

Perhaps reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will be relying on something other than skills for his upcoming jump to light heavyweight, despite this claim, based on the social media post the “stacked” Stylebender dropped on Wednesday.

Head coach Eugene Bareman, however, insists Adesanya won’t be gaining any weight.

“We’re not putting on weight — the science of putting on weight and moving up in weight isn’t going to be a factor in this fight because we’ve decided to come in at our normal, walk-around weight,” Bareman told 1News (via MMA Junkie). “We’re hoping it gives us the advantages we need to win the fight rather than stack on muscle. I don’t think, with any amount of time or any amount of weight that Israel could put on, I don’t think he’s ever going to be stronger than Jan, so we’ve decided: Let’s try not to get stronger than Jan, let’s use that time to better-suited endeavors.”

Let’s hope his walk around weight means an end to chronic frail-ass syndrome.

Adesanya will challenge current 205-pound champion Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight strap in the UFC 259 pay-per-view (PPV) main event on March 6 inside APEX in Las Vegas, where “The Last Stylebender” will arrive as a sizable betting favorite.
