As if losing again wasn’t bad enough, Struve also suffered a really nasty gash you’ve just gotta see.

Someday, people continue to say. Someday, Stefan Struve will learn how to use his ridiculous length to become a great fighter.

Well, ‘someday’ is certainly not today, the day he lost to Marcin Tybura at UFC Hamburg. As usual, Struve was unable to channel his jab or kicks to keep Tybura on the outside, allowing the Polish heavyweight to take Struve down at will and ride him to a 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 victory.

The loss is Struve’s third in a row and puts him at 3-6 over the past five years. As if another blemish on his record wasn’t bad enough, Struve also took a nasty cut just above his chin that the UFC Twitter account aptly described as ‘soul patch.’

Struve showed off the nasty cut after the fight on Instagram, along with a message that suggested he may take a break from the sport.

”Thanks for the love as always,” he wrote. “Time to clear my head for a bit and focus on other things for a while.”

”Time for a beer for my 2 mouths,” he added at the end of his entry.

Struve has fought 21 times in the UFC since arriving in 2009, averaging two fights a year. At 30 years old, he hypothetically has a decent chunk of time left on his career. Maybe a year or two off to finally figure out how to use his impressive physical gifts is exactly what he needs before stepping back in the Octagon.
