Potential classic in the making

Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is set to fight Junior Dos Santos at UFC 211 in Dallas, Texas. The second matchup between the two strikers will head the May 13th card and if the first fight was any indication then we should expect a knockdown, drag out, war.

While Dos Santos got his hand raised after the first matchup, anyone watching it knows it could have gone either way. Since then JDS has only fought twice and one of those was a TKO loss to Alistair Overeem.

Stipe on the other hand has gone on to win four straight over Mark HuntAndrei Arlovski, Fabricio Werdum (for the title), and defended his belt against Alistair Overeem. With the ever growing skillset of Miocic and new found confidence due to his recent win streak it will be hard for JDS to score another win over the champion. Then again, if there’s anyone with the tools to throw a wrench in the champion’s plan, it’s JDS.

The real question is, which JDS shows up? If it’s the super athletic, light on the feet, dynamic knockout artist that beat Ben Rothwell then we might see a new champion. But if it’s the flat, slightly hesitant, not letting his hands go JDS, then Miocic might just add another check mark to his title defenses.

Either way it will be a sight to behold May 13th at the American Airlines Center.

What do you guys think of this fight, is this the bout that the hardcore fans want to see?
