Jake Paul, Ben Askren, Stranger Things, Quentin Tarantino, Justin Bieber, and Snoop Dogg’s new supergroup? What?
I am aware that the headline looks like it came from a random word generator, but Triller is really trying to put all those things together for their next boxing offering.
With Jake Paul vs Ben Askren, we have a YouTuber taking on a wrestler in a pro-boxing match on April 17. The undercard will also have Frank Mir, a 41-year-old former UFC champ, switching sports to face a 52-year-old former boxing champ in Antonio Tarver.
That isn’t random enough, apparently.
Triller also just announced that the event will be a four-hour pay-per-view, involving several musical acts such as Justin Bieber and Mt. Westmore — a newly formed hip-hop super group involving Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Too $hort, and E-40.
The other performers revealed are The Black Keys, Doja Cat, Saweetie, Diplo and Major Lazer.
If that wasn’t enough, they’ve also hired an Emmy Award-winner in Bert Marcus to film the sporting event and give it a “cinematic style,” which he describes to look like “Stranger Things meets Quentin Tarantino.”
“This event is more like making a tentpole movie than a boxing match,” Triller’s Ryan Kavanaugh said on the announcement. “By bringing in the creative genius Bert Marcus and pairing his unique storytelling vision with his unmatched shooting style, the Fight Club event is going to shock and awe people.”
This hodgepodge of boxing, MMA and music will cost $49.99 on pay-per-view.
