Strikeforce: Alistair Overeem Discusses Fabricio Werdum Ahead of Their Bout
Bleacher Report’s MIke Hodges:
Prior to his upcoming bout with Fabricio Werdum this weekend, Alistair Overeem took some out of his schedule to speak to the media and discuss his strategy and his thoughts on his opponent.
Overeem told Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com that he expects a tough bout against Werdum, a man who defeated the Dutch kickboxer via submission five years ago in Pride FC.
Since then, both fighters have drastically changed and have improved their overall game to compete against one another in a second encounter.
Overeem has captured multiple titles, competing in K-1 Grand Prix tournaments as well as other promotions including DREAM.
Werdum is also one of the most experienced fighters in mixed martial arts, who previously competed in the UFC where he earned a 5-2 record inside the Octagon.
In addition to Overeem and Werdum, Josh Barnett and Brett Rogers will also square off against each other in the second bracket of the tournament.
Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum is live this weekend from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.
