During Tuesday’s Strikeforce media call for the upcoming Strikeforce Heavywight Grand Prix semi-final event, promotion CEO Scott Coker offered up several tidbits of news concerning the tournament final, the vacant Strikeforce titles, plus much more.

Also on the line were tournament participants Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett.

The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix semi-final event is scheduled to take place on Sept. 10 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The event features a nine bout card, with the five bout main card airing on Showtime.

Rather than going into a long discussion of what was said, I’m simply going to throw out a quick summary of the Strikeforce chief’s updates.

    – HDNet will broadcast the weigh-ins and the preliminary bouts live for the upcoming Sept. 10 event.
    – The Strikeforce final will take place in the first quarter of 2012
    – The winner of the Strikeforce GP will NOT be crowned the new heavyweight champion, the winner will receive the Grand Prix title
    – Nothing has been figured out concerning Dan Henderson and the light heavyweight title. If Henderson signs with the UFC, Coker isn’t sure how the title picture will work itself out.
    – No plans to name a No. 1 light heavyweight contender just yet
    – Female fighter Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Santos expected to fight before the end of 2011
