Strikeforce Overeem vs Werdum Results: Brian Melancon vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg Results
This fight started out fast and with very little technical style. Melancon came out swinging and had Vallie-Flagg backing up.
Melancon then took the fight to the ground, alternating between side mount and back mount. With 3:00 left in the first round Melancon worked on securing a rear naked choke, but he could not stick the submission hold.
The fight then went back to standing where Melancon again stalked his opponent around the cage.
Vallie-Flagg came out and tagged Melancon at the start of the second, Vallie-Flagg then briefly secured a takedown, but he could not keep Melancon down.
The fighters then spent the majority against the cage, but Melancon did score with a nice uppercut within the last minute of the second round.
The final round began with Vallie-Flagg looking to land low kicks to Melancon. Melancon then threw Vallie-Flagg and had side control on the ground. Melancon then ended up in the guard of Vallie-Flagg before the fight went back to standing.
With 20 seconds left Melancon scored a takedown.
Fight goes to the cards and it’s a split decision 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 for Isaac Vallie Flagg and the call is greeted by boos from the sparse crowd.
