The Zuffa owned Strikeforce promotion has added a lightweight bout to it’s upcoming January card as former King of the Cage champ Bobby ‘King’ Green (17-5) takes on Alonzo ‘Zo Diddy’ Martinez (35-15-1) at the Las Vegas show.
Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine is scheduled to take place on January 7, 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The five bout main card is headlined by a middleweight title fight between champ Luke Rockhold and former light heavyweight Keith Jardine, who is making his 185 lbs debut.
Green has won two straight since dropping his Strikeforce debut last July. Since then ‘King’ has gone on to submit Charon Spain in September, and J.P. Reese in November, to improve his record to 3-1 in his last four. Last April, Green became the undisputed KOTC lightweight champion defeating Dom O’Grady by unanimous decision.
While ‘Zo Diddy’ Martinez has also won two straight and is 8-1 in his last nine fights. The former Bellator veteran has fought for a number of promotions over his career and will make his Strikeforce debut against Green. In 2011, Martinez has fought eight times with four submission wins, three victories by decision, and one loss by unanimous decision.
