Those spots went to wrestling, which Stack competed in
during high school and college, and football, in which the Northern
Californian made it all the way to the semi-professional level.
Sometimes, he even enjoyed them simultaneously.

“Straight double-leg takedowns all day long,” Stack told MMAjunkie.com
Radio in regards to his approach to football. “I was a little bit slower
on the coverage, but I definitely liked to get up in the mix and use my
wrestling skills.”
