Promising women’s flyweight prospect Mariya Agapova showed up to fight earlier tonight (Sat., June 13, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 10 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as she finished veteran Hannah Cifers via first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Agapova delivered the goods in her UFC debut as she landed sharp punches from range while mixing in knees to the body. Cifers was tough and found a home for a few shots, but the 23-year-old Agapova wouldn’t be denied when she landed a massive head kick in the middle of the first. Cifers wobbled and Agapova was able to sneak in for a tight rear-naked choke, forcing the veteran to tap.

With this performance, Agapova capitalizes on a huge opportunity in her UFC debut while locking up her sixth-career, first-round finish. Agapova looked pretty darn good in the short minutes she spent against Cifers so it will be interesting to see where she goes from here, especially given her size among other UFC women’s flyweights.
