Danilo Marques captured the biggest win of his career earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 6, 2021) at UFC Vegas 18 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the light heavyweight prospect put a stop to veteran finisher Mike Rodriguez via second-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Marques was a wet blanket from the opening bell and gave Rodriguez little room to breathe. Rodriguez tried to pry the Brazilian off to create space and utilize his striking, but Marques was unstoppable in close. Marques eventually wore “Slow” down to find the finish at the very end of the second round.

This performance now gives Marques his second-straight win at 205 pounds and he looks like he’s ready for a step up in competition. Rodriguez didn’t offer too much resistance tonight, especially off his back, but the finish was still impressive for Marques.
