Multiple veteran mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) have been name-dropping teenage phenom Sage Northcutt in regards to fighter pay when discussing why the deserve to be paid more coin.

Others have gone as far as to pull out the race card.

So what does “Super” think about all of the publicity? Get your money up and follow suit.

Northcutt gives his thoughts on negative publicity during a UFC on FOX 18 media scrum:

“I don’t think it’s difficult [dealing with negativity]. I actually think it’s funny, too. A lot of times, anything that someone tries to say negative is actually kind of funny. I don’t really listen to any of the negative stuff. Anything that’s kind of positive is what I’m listening to. That’s what kind of brings you up.”

Northcutt, who splits time training in MMA and studying petroleum engineering at Texas A&M University, has skyrocketed into UFC stardom despite only competing in two Octagon bouts. After capturing UFC President Dana White’s heart attention on the former’s reality show “Looking for a Fight,” the Texas native reeled off two finishes of Cody Pfister and Francisco Trevino to close out 2015.

Northcutt is now slated to face Bryan Barberena on the main card of UFC on FOX 18 tonight (Sat., Jan. 30, 2016) in Newark, New Jersey. Their tilt inside Prudential Center will take place at Welterweight — a division which we may, or may not, see Northcutt pitch his tent in.

“Bam Bam” comes into his meeting with the upstart prospect Northcutt off of a unanimous-decision loss to Chad Laprise last April. Prior to the Laprise loss, Barberena was a winner of seven straight tussles.

Will Barberena be the one to knock off Northcutt? Let us know below.
