Cage Warriors Promoter Graham Boylan is taking a page from the Dana White playbook.
He may not have a choice now that he’s just a few hours away from the Cage Warriors 113 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, hastily moved from London’s Indigo at The O2 to Manchester’s BEC Arena, as Boylan and Co. try to outrun the spread of coronavirus.
And the shutdowns that accompany it.
“We’re going through it, UFC have been through it and we’re all just pulling together to try and make things happen and make things work for the athletes,” Boylan told Eurobash Podcast (via MMA Fighting). “There needs to be some normal in a time of chaos. There needs to be some calm to keep things moving forward for everybody in some way, shape or form.”
Cage Warriors 113 airs today at 2:30 p.m. ET on UFC Fight Pass.
“We’re doing our bit to keep the athletes in a situation where they get to be rewarded for the last two months that they’ve put in,” Boylan continued. “Our medics are going to be all over it. Our medics are going to be testing our fighters for symptoms. We’re going to do what we can to move forward with this event. It will take tanks, trucks and lots of men with guns to stop this event going on.”
The middleweight showdown between Bartosz Fabinski and Darren Stewart, originally scheduled for the since-postponed UFC London event on Saturday, has been moved to the main event of the Cage Warriors 113 card.
