I think Instagram user omarriyadh29 said it best:

“RDA please, I have lot of respect for you but c’mon man, what is this?”

Former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos took exception to comments made from Khabib Nurmagomedov earlier this week, claiming there was no incentive to make his UFC return because he already choked out top contenders Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

“Khabib said he is not interested in fighting Conor or Dustin as he choked both of them,” the Brazilian wrote. “He did not choke me. As a matter of fact I got him snoring until a slipping rib saved him from [sleeping]. He beat me fair and square, but no one got closer to putting the Champ out. My plan was to beat his brother and go after that neck again. That plan felt apart for reasons beyond my control, but I will keep sharping my tools just in case he decides to come back and chooses me.”

Dos Anjos dropped a unanimous decision to Nurmagomedov at the UFC on FOX 11: “Werdum vs. Brown” event back in April 2014. At the time, “RDA” was ranked No. 5 in the division against No. 7 for “The Eagle,” who would remain undefeated for the remainder of his career.

Despite last month’s retirement, promotion president Dana White is convinced he can persuade Nurmagomedov to accept one last fight, which is why reporters continue to pester him about fighting the winner of McGregor vs. Poirier.

UPDATE: It appears Dos Anjos took umbrage with our headline and issued the following statement on Twitter:

“It wasn’t what I said in the post, don’t twist it! I had a good position, I hurt my ribs in the fight week. I just said it could be a different story if we fight now days. It was a close but he didn’t tap.”
