A unique, last-minute fight has come together on the eve of World Series of Fighting 21.

Here’s the deal: Middleweights Matt Baker and Marcus Hicks were scheduled to fight Friday night in a prelim bout on the card in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. However, on Thursday, Hicks was ruled out of the fight due to complications with his weight cut, according to WSOF officials. As a result, Thiago Goncalves, who was in Edmonton to corner Baker and has been sharing a room with him all week long, has agreed to fight his teammate on a day’s notice, WSOF officials confirmed with MMAFighting.com.

That’s right, it will be teammate vs. teammate tomorrow on the WSOF 21 prelims. The fight will be contested at middleweight.

Baker (12-7) is unbeaten in his last three fights, while Goncalves, a TUF Brasil 2 veteran, has won five of his last six fights. However, he hasn’t fought since March 2014.

WSOF 21, headlined by Lance Palmer vs. Chris Horodecki for the WSOF featherweight title, will air Friday night on NBCSN.
