Light heavyweight veteran Glover Teixeira feels younger fighters consider him a stepping stone at this point in his career.

Glover Teixeira might be pushing 40, but he is not done with MMA just yet.

Currently on a two-fight winning streak, with submission wins over much younger athletes in 28-year-old Karl Roberson and 25-year-old Ion Cutelaba, Teixeira tells Combate his opponents usually underestimate his abilites due to his age. The 39-year-old Brazilian veteran and look at him as someone they can dispose of with ease at this point in Teixeira’s career.

“Now that I hit this age, 39, that’s what everybody will do (use him as a stepping stone). But I won’t stop training. I’ve been winning, I’m in the top 10 and I’ve shown why I’m here since my UFC debut. Guys want to make a name for themselves, they look at my age and think they will run over me. It’s not like that, though. I’m tougher than that.”

With two wins under his belt in 2019, Glover Teixeira (29-7) hasn’t lost since an unanimous decision defeat to Corey Anderson back in July 2018. For now, the former light heavyweight title challenger has no other fights coming up yet.
