Friday night was a busy night for Canadian mixed martial arts promotions as The Score Fighting Series held their first event at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The event was put together by the Canadian sports cable network TheScore, featuring a heavy Canadian contingent of fighters.
The ten fight card features some high profile names such as DREAM welterweight champ Marius Žaromskis, UFC vet Joe Doerksen and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.
Žaromskis, looking to improve his slumping record of 1-2 and one no contest over his past four fights, headlined the event against Canada’s Jordan Mein. At the end of three rounds it would be Mein who would walk away the winner scoring a decisive unanimous decision, using his reach to outscore the DREAM champ. Mein improves to 22-7 overall and is 9-1 in his last ten fights. It’s safe to say a move to one of the big three promotions is in his future.
